Genetic diseases include hereditary conditions caused by genetic changes (mutations) in all cells of the body. Since mutations are also present in the ovaries and testicles, heredity for the disease can be transmitted to the next generation, i.e. it can be inherited. Included in genetic diseases are also conditions which, while not hereditary, are caused by genetic changes that have only arisen in certain cells or tissues of the body.
