It is usually easier to find a donor in your own country

In about one-third of patients a suitable stem cell donor will be found among siblings. Others have to search for a suitable donor via the Tobias Registry or other registries elsewhere in the world.

Tobias Registry

The Tobias Registry, the national bone marrow donor registry in Sweden, was initiated in 1992. It is owned and operated by Stockholm Care.

It lists approximately 40.000 volunteer donors willing to donate bone marrow to Swedish as well as foreign patients. The registry is one of several registries in a worldwide collaboration.

More than 500 donors from the Tobias Registry have donated bone marrow. The Tobias Registry has thus contributed to giving a new chance of life to over 500 patients around the world.
